Chapter Eight ~ SUNDEW ~ “Chokecherry?” Sundew whispered back. “You're safe! I thought that you were way deeper in the jungle! How are you alive?” Oh my goodness! Chokecherry is alive and well! Well, except for those bruises and scratches on her arms and legs. Poor Chokecherry. But the question was, how had she gotten those injuries? They didn’t look fresh, but they did however look dry, red, and extremely swollen. Chokecherry emerged from the bushes. “I had a dream about Mother every night. She said you were coming, and that I had to keep fighting.”, she said. What? How had Chokecherry been fighting? And why? This seems very suspicious and interesting. She must have had some certain reason for her actions. “Wait a minute. You’ve been fighting? Where?”, Sundew asked anxiously. Chokecherry didn’t answer. She made no sign of hearing her sister whatsoever. “These meanies acted like I was their slave.”, Chokecherry whispered, her voice quivering with sadness. Chokecherry looked down

Chapter Six ~ SUNDEW ~ “WHAT?!”, Sundew screeched . “Well, the old one is dead. The new one is alive and well. I mean, she’s bleeding from a few claw marks, but other than that, alive and well!” Sundew was itching to find out what had happened, but she knew that would make her lose even more time to find Chokecherry. “THERE’S A NEW QUEEN?!”, Sundew finally burst out. “Wait a minute. Aunt Sequoia only had one daughter so that means…” Sundew trailed off, thinking with concentration. “WAIT, POKEWEED IS QUEEN?! Oh NO, oh n-n-no. This is bad. Very, very bad.” In the name of all the trees on this continent, Pokeweed, of all dragons in Pantala, is queen of the LeafWings?! Well I, most certainly won’t be sorry if that scoundrel dragon, who is just about as idiotic as Tundra, kills herself by being a “good and heroic ruler”. Sundew turned on her heel, moving swiftly, and slapped Cobra Lily’s face over and over again while yelling, “Wake up, Cobra Lily. Wake up, wake up. WAKE UP NOW!” Sunde

Chapter Four ~ SUNDEW ~ Cobra Lily growled. “What is it?”, Sundew snapped. She turned ahead, following Cobra Lily’s gaze until it landed on a familiar tree. “Sandboxes”, Cobra Lily hissed. “Everyone get down. NOW, Tundra, I said right now. I am looking at you.” The Sandboxes had icky, sticky, big tendrils, and they were a big tree. For some reason, the Sandbox was spiky in a way that scared Tundra. Tundra sighed. Sundew and Cobra Lily could blend into the Rainforest with ease. But Tundra on the other talon, had icy white scales, and piercing blue eyes. Both Cobra Lily and Sundew had to cover every inch of her body in mud, and dead, wet leaves. “Ick! This is awful!”, Tundra complained. “Well it’s what is best for us, you, and the chance of saving Chokecherry”, Sundew retorted. “Yessss…”, The sandbox hissed slowly, adding a hint of death to the air. “Yessss… Fear me dragonsss. Do…” Cobra Lily crouched down, and leapt out of the grass, but the sandbox was too quick. “Nice try, dragon

Chapter Two ~ SUNDEW ~ “WHAT?”, Father roared astoundedly, leaping forward and clutching Chokecherry’s shoulders tightly. He just didn’t understand why or how Mother could be gone! “I know,” Chokecherry said, putting her talon on one of her father’s. “I know, it was terrible. She drowned at North Beach.” Sundew might have imagined it, but it seemed as though Chokecherry could not seem to meet her father’s eyes. Chokecherry started sniffling again. Sundew didn’t like it one bit. Their father turned to Sundew. “Maybe not! Maybe, just maybe we can still save her!”, He turned to the entrance boulder, reaching out to close it. Chokecherry gasped in disbelief. For once, Sundew was glad that her sister was finally agreeing with her. “Oh, no you don’t!”, Sundew exclaimed, pinning her father’s tail to the floor, stopping him mid roll. “I know! It’s hard to believe, but we saw her disappear under the water.” She looked her father square in the eye with a serious expression. “No”, Father excla
